Les Saucissons

Market days are great fun. Apart from the shopping they are a very social occasion where friends gather and chat and compare bargains. The stall holders work hard to make their wares attractive and love adding little extras like this pink pig to show he is a pig farmer.

The French Balcony

Among the many things I love about the architecture in the area are the wonderful balconies that adorn properties in the villages. At this time of year they so colourful with the all the flowers.

Summer evenings

Long summer evenings watching spectacular sunsets while supping a glass of wine! A perfect way to enjoy the peace and tranquility at our country home.

Butterflies

Wander through our meadows and you will see the most beautiful  wildlife. There has been a huge increase in species since we arrived having converted the farm to organic. The butterflies are really lovely.

Summer evenings

We simply love the long summer evenings here at Domaine des Faures. It is so peaceful with such glorious views that we really don’t wish to be anywhere else. Guests who holiday here always comment on how quiet and restorative the property is and leave refreshed, often returning again.

Spring has sprung

Spring has definitely sprung here at Domaine des Faures. The tulips are beautiful and all the pots are adding colour to the terraces. The days are drawing out and evenings can once again been spent outdoors reveling in the sunset.

Easter Greetings

With the Easter weekend now upon us we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of guests. We would like to wish past, present and future guests a very happy Easter.

Spring

Yellow must be the colour most associated with spring and Easter. Daffodils and aconites bring such a vibrancy to the garden at this time of year when buds are forming and the days growing longer. Each day brings something new . A fabulous time with everything re-awakening.

Pic Noir, the black woodpecker

We were very excited and delighted to see a ‘pic noir’, the black woodpecker, in the garden . We had seen them around our neighbour’s farm but hope that we may have a pair that will nest with us this year. Fingers crossed!

Sunrise in the Dordogne

With the days drawing out it’s back to breakfast watching the glorious sunrise. Each dawn brings a new sight with the colours ever changing. Somehow it brings a feeling of well-being before starting the day’s work.
